In 2020, the Guidance Outline for the Construction of Ideological and Political Education in Higher Education Courses publicized by the Ministry of Education required all majors to promote the implementation of ideological and political education in university courses in combination with the characteristics of their disciplines.

Regarding the situation of ideological and political education in tourism management courses, major universities are currently in the exploratory stage. Tourist colleges and universities attach great importance to ideological and political education in courses. Many of them have implemented relevant projects of ideological and political education in tourism management courses and formed relevant teams. Schools also regularly organize seminars to actively discuss such aspects as "how to infiltrate ideological and political content into tourism management courses", the specific implementation countermeasures of ideological and political education in courses, and how to evaluate the teaching effects of ideological and political education in courses.The School of Tourism Management of Beijing Union University has designed a new training program for tourism management and established a relevant training platform for tourism talents in combination with the actual situation of the major. It has also created a professional ideological and political course named "Tourism Youth in the New Era", which includes theoretical aspects such as "Great Beauty of China", "Happy Life", "Innovation and Endeavor" and "Bright Future", and practical aspects of "Red Gene".
